This recipe will show you how to cook black beans. Real simple recipe that will have you licking the pot.
Ingredients
- 4 cups of black beans
- 1 small onion
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 12 cups of water
- 1/2 cup of olive oil
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 teaspoon of brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder
- 1 cup of red wine
- 1/2 teaspoon of cumin
Preparation
Soak the beans in water with the salt overnight or for several hours.
Boil the beans in water until tender. Do not remove all the water from the beans.
Chop onion and saute onion in a saucepan with pepper, cumin, chili powder, and olive oil until soft.
Mix onion mixture into beans. Add wine, brown sugar, and simmer over low flame for another 15 minutes.
Remove from flame and serve. Goes great over white rice or on the side of chicken, beef or pork.
